History of Embrace Health & Rehab

Updated: Nov 24, 2019

My story began in 2011 and then again in 2012 with the birth of my children. At this time, I had somewhat forgotten physical therapy for women’s health was available. Even as a physical therapist, I didn’t know exactly what that meant or exactly what was involved.

I didn’t know what I didn’t know.

After my kids were born, I wasn’t using my body the right way. I didn’t realize this of course, but I soon found out when I tried right away to start using my abdominals to sit up. (Hello diastasis recti.) I peed every time I woke up with the baby in the night. (Hello nocturia.) I rushed through urination to get to my crying baby faster. (Hello power pee.) I experienced pain through my pelvis when I tried to start running again. (Hello pelvic girdle pain.) I refused help bringing groceries to my car and felt the immediate pain in my lower abdomen reminding me not to lift anything heavier than the baby. (Hello prolapse.) I experienced urinary leakage when I coughed. (Hello stress incontinence).

Through pelvic floor physical therapy, my pain went away, my core muscles functioned properly again, and I no longer leaked or felt pressure of prolapse. I wanted to shout from the rooftops that there were solutions for all of the problems women experience but don’t talk about. Women no longer have to suffer with pain during sex or pelvic organ prolapse and can return to exercise after baby without urinary leakage, pain or fear.

Women who have not gone through pregnancy or childbirth may still experience pelvic floor issues such as urinary leakage, urinary urgency, pelvic organ prolapse, constipation, etc. and not all women who have gone through childbirth automatically develop these symptoms either!

Opening Embrace Health & Rehab has been a dream of mine for a long time. By offering individualized care, I can fully assess each person who comes to me for treatment. You will be fully listened to I will give you all the knowledge I now have so that you will be able to live a better life. I’m no longer restricted by what insurance companies dictate for care and neither are you.

I look forward to helping you live a truly healthy lifestyle.
